- the state of having two opposite or contradictory tendencies, opinions, or aspects.
Antidote
- a medicine taken or given to counteract a particular poison.
Polarity in Western Democracies is a poison. This tribal, us-versus-them mentality seemed to come to the forefront in the US during the 2016 Presidential Election between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump. Since then, this toxin has crept its way into the rest of the west, pitting everyday people against each other politically and pushing them towards the extremes of the political spectrum. This is even though they have more in common than uncommon.
Polarity Antidote is a way to criticize the tribalism in the political arena by investigating its flaws and hypocrisy as well as its rise and status. While there is no inherent message or motive centered on sentimental themes of unity, if it can bring more people back to be willing to engage in rational debate with one another, then that is only a positive. Ideas are often raw and developing and there is no underlying assumption of correctness held. Discussion and exploration of ideas is welcome and encouraged.
The scope of this platform will begin with a weekly essay focused on the polarity seen in world events with a focus to expand into additional content.
